Hi,

Since there have been interest from several people on this list for
ECLiPSe on Mac OS X, I am posting this message to the list.

Thanks to Paulo Moura (University of Beira Interior, Portugal), who made
both an Intel and a Power PC Mac available to us, we have been able to
build and test ECLiPSe on Mac OS X.

Binaries for the latest build of ECLiPSe 5.10 (#69) for Intel Mac OS X,
along with the source and documentation packages, is now available for
download at the elcipse-clp SourceForge site:

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=177708

The source includes various updates, including contributions from
various people in this mailing list, that allow it to compile with Intel
Mac OS X.

Some notes about building from source:

The binaries include support for bignums (large integers) and rationals
via GNU's gmp package. GMP is not officially supported by GNU for Intel
Macs, and the GMP source have to be modified to compile successfully
(thanks to Jason Martin for providing the information):

 > If you want 32-bit binaries, then after untaring GMP, go into the
 > gmp-4.2.1 source directory and
 > do the following:
 >
 > cd mpn/x86
 > rm *dive_1* */*dive_1* */*/*dive_1*
 > rm */*mode1o* */*/*mode1o*
 >
 > Then you can run configure, make, make check, etc.

The build uses GMP 4.1 instead of 4.2, but the above modification also
works with 4.1.

Please let me know if there are any problems.
