Dear Eclipse-Users, I have a strange problem regarding ECLiPSe 3.7.1 and 4.0: These version don't run on SuSE Linux 5.0 and 5.3. There is no problem to install ECLiPSe, but when I trz to start the system, I only get a message: "No such file or directory". Here is an example with ECLiPSe 3.7.1 / SuSE Linux 5.0: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- im@orion 31> pwd /usr/local/software/eclipse/3.7.1/bin/i386_linux im@orion 32> ls -la total 1062 drwxr-xr-x 2 software software 1024 Mar 24 17:10 ./ drwxr-xr-x 5 software software 1024 Feb 26 21:36 ../ -rwxr-xr-x 1 software software 380 Mar 24 17:10 eclipse* -rwxr-xr-x 1 software software 938794 Mar 20 17:47 eclipse.exec* -rwxr-xr-x 1 software software 295 Mar 24 16:49 eclipse.orig* -rwxr-xr-x 1 software software 138079 Mar 20 17:48 nsrv* im@orion 33> ./eclipse ./eclipse: /usr/local/software/eclipse/3.7.1/bin/i386_linux/eclipse.exec: No such file or directory ./eclipse: /usr/local/software/eclipse/3.7.1/bin/i386_linux/eclipse.exec: No such file or directory im@orion 34> ./eclipse.exec bash: ./eclipse.exec: No such file or directory im@orion 35> file eclipse.exec eclipse.exec: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1, dynamically linked, not stripped ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- It seems that ECLiPSe is trying to access a file that does not exist on the expected place. But I have no idea which file it could be or where it is expected by ECLiPSe. Any pointers to solve this problem? Best regards, Ingolf. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ____ UniDo / Ingolf Markhof University of Dortmund, LS Informatik XII ___/ / D-44221 Dortmund, F.R. Eclipse is compiled for libc version 6, so you need to get the newer libraries to run it. I have put a package with the necessary files on our web site at http://www.icparc.ic.ac.uk/eclipse/download/release/Support/linuxlibc6.tgz It should be possible to add them to your /usr/lib directory without disturbing other applications. Alternatively, you can install them somewhere else and set your LD_LIBRARY_PATH correspondingly when running eclipse. ]Received on Mon Sep 14 14:42:56 1998
