I have just been made aware of the following paper, which investigates garbage collection, especially in the presence of quasi-infinite data structures: > [1] J. Wielemaker, U. Neumerkel. Precise Garbage Collection in Prolog. > CICLOPS, Udine 2008. The paper contains a table indicating that ECLiPSe 5.10 shows shortcomings in two of the benchmark scenarios. I am however pleased to say that ECLiPSe 6.0 successfully passes all these tests, and therefore provides "precise garbage collection" in the sense of this study. -- JoachimReceived on Fri Jan 16 2009 - 03:13:20 CET
